The highest densities of Yucca endlichiana are located around Station Mars area, where there are up to 200 individuals per hectare (Ortiz and Van der Meer 2008, Matuda and Piña 1980). This taxa propagates by rhizomes and forms colonies from 1 to 3 m of diameter.

Collection of wild plants and seeds for the horticultural trade, legal and illegal, is a threat to this species. Local communities collect plants to extract fibres and for ornamental purposes. Subpopulations of this taxon are occasionally damaged by road construction, land clearing and overgrazing (E. Solano and M. Ayala-Hernandez pers. comm. 2018).

Yucca endlichiana is not known to occur in any protected areas in the region. However, recently, Sierra de la Palma which is within the species range, has been proposed for protection. This species is legal protected in Mexico as it is included in the national list of threatened species, NOM-059-SEMARNAT-2010, under the category "subject to special protection" (SEMARNAT 2010).
