État de la populationTexte officiel évaluation IUCNExpert
The total population of the plant was estimated in the past at 3,000 individuals (Tsintides et al. 2007) or between 2,500 and 4,292 individuals (Commission of the European Communities 2009). The population size was monitored for three consecutive years and the data indicates inter-annual population size variation but a general population trend could not be established (Commission of the European Communities 2009). The minimum viable population (MVP) of the species is 250-500 mature individuals per subpopulation (Commission of the European Communities 2009).
Recent survey (Andreou et al. 2015) reported the following numbers of mature individuals; 2,569 (2006), 4,292 (2007), and 11,487 (2008). The apparent increase in population size is reported to be mainly result of the discovery of new subpopulations (Andreou et al. 2015). Andreou et al. (2015) recorded two subpopulations to be stable ('Damaskinari' and 'Esso Galata') or increasing ('Spilia' and 'Stavroulia to Agios Nicolaos'), whilst the other subpopulations all showed some degree of annual fluctuation. Andreou (2010) set the minimum viable population size to 50 individuals per subpopulation.

Description complète des menacesTexte détaillé évaluation IUCNExpert
The direct threats identified for this plant are development of recreational areas at two subpopulations, rural and urban housing development, plant harvesting, mainly near picnic sites (i.e., two subpopulations), low to moderate frequency of human-induced fires at all locations (despite the fire protection measures, due to the proximity of the inflammable pine forest and the high frequency of visitors), and the lack of the pollinators constitutes an important stress threat (Andreou et al. 2015). Climate change, fruit and seed predation by insect larvae and reduced fecundity are cited as additional threats (Commission of the European Communities 2009).

This taxon is listed as priority species on Annex II of the Habitats Directive and under Appendix I of the Convention on the Conservation of European Wildlife and Natural Habitats (Bern Convention) under the synonym Chionodoxa lochiae Meikle. It has been classed as Vulnerable D2 on the Red Data Book of the Flora of Cyprus (Tsintides et al. 2007), and assessment supported by Andreou et al. (2015).
Seven of the ten known subpopulations are within either state forest or in the Natura 2000 site ‘Ethniko Dasiko Parko Troodous’ (Andreou et al. 2015).
