This species is threatened by urbanisation, including landfill sites, as well as road and building construction and re-afforestation to control soil erosion. Overgrazing and trampling by livestock are additional threats, but the species is to some extent 'grazing tolerant' as it prefers more open areas (La Mantia and Pasta 2013).
