État de la populationTexte officiel évaluation IUCNExpert
No quantitative population data are available for this species. It was noted as locally common to abundant at Mt Karkarha (Kaka) by J.W. Ash in 1976 (# 3393), quite frequent 37 km west of Bonga by the same collector in 1972 (# 1477) and common at Bonga by W.J.J.O. de Wilde and B.E.E. de Wilde-Duyfjes in 1965 (# 9321). However, although it can be common at a given spot, it is highly localised and scattered within the forests in which it occurs, and is often restricted to along streams and rivers or as epiphytes on mature groves of trees (Sebsebe Demissew pers. comm.). In herbaria, it is known from 18 collections. The current population trend is inferred to be decreasing due to habitat loss. The population is suspected to be severely fragmented. It occurs in increasingly small and isolated forest patches and, even within these forests, it is becoming fragmented due to management practices; it is suspected that this may now mean that more than 50% of the population occurs in in small, isolated subpopulations with little or no genetic exchange.
