État de la populationExpert
This species is considered widespread and sometimes locally abundant. Nevertheless, since the beginning of the 20th century, localities have continued to be destroyed by urban and infrastructure expansion along the Mediterranean coastline. As a result, a global continuous decline of its population is assumed but the extent of this decline could not be quantified. The species also appears to be close to qualifying as severely fragmented due to the increasing urbanization and infrastructure development, and the fact that this plant produces few diaspores that are dispersed locally, with at least 50% of the total population expected to exists in subpopulations between which there is no genetic exchange.

Description complète des menacesExpert
Many historical localities are now situated within urbanised, touristic or industrialised areas (E. Véla pers. obs. 2018), particularly near Valencia (Spain), Tangier (Morocco), Oran, Algiers, Skikda, Constantine, Annaba (Algeria) and Tunis (Tunisia); foothill rocky habitats as well as coastal sandy habitats are concerned.

Mesures de conservation recommandéesExpert
The species is present in several protected areas throughout its distribution range, e.g. Parco Nazionale dell'Arcipelago di la Maddalena in Sardinia, Italy (IUCN and UNEP-WCMC 2017), Parc National de Tlemcen, Parc National de Gouraya, Parc National d’El Kala in Algeria and Réserve naturelle intégrale de La Galite in Tunisia (E. Véla pers. com. 2018). There are no specific conservation measures in place for this species; site protection and management against urbanisation are the main actions needed.
