In Corsica, some subpopulations are present on land owned and therefore protected by the national seaside and lakeside conservancy Conservatoire du Littoral (e.g., Testa - Ventilegne), and the subpopulation on Maddalena Island may be within the Maddalena Archipelago National Park (IUCN and UNEP-WCMC 2017). It is listed VU D2 in the Red List of threatened species of France (UICN France, FCBN and MNHN 2012). Taxonomic research to confirm the species relationship to the widespread Prospero autumnale is required.
