Grazing by goats is likely to be a significant pressure and threat to both the habitat quality and populations of the species, especially on small offshore islets in the Aegean. According to Bergmeier and Dimopoulos (2003) Aegean islets and their floras suffer from grazing. They also come to the general conclusions that species-area relation increases with grazing, and the proportion of islet specialists decreases. Recently, the Ministry of Environment rejected the construction of wind farms on 14 remote islands in the South Aegean, taking into account the high cost to their biodiversity and the strong reactions of scientific and environmental organisations.
