État de la populationExpert
The main population consists of about 35 mature plants in a stream bordering the Kalugala Forest Reserve and not within the protected area (Madola et al. 2021). Few individuals (about three mature individuals) have been recorded in the stream within the protected area. There are reports of people collecting large numbers of plants for export. According to personal communication with the villagers, a few years back there had been a person who visited the area regularly and collected plants on a large scale with the help of the villagers for export.

Description complète des menacesExpert
The major threats to the habitat of this species are anthropogenic activities. Recently we have observed illegal sand mining in the close vicinity of the population. Further, bank erosion due to flash floods as a result of adverse weather conditions. According to personal communication with the villagers, a few years back there had been a person who visited the area regularly and collected plants on a large scale with the help of the villagers for export.

Mesures de conservation recommandéesExpert
There had been no conservation action so far for the species. However, it should be noted that the species was only recently described (2021). A few plants occur within the Forest Reserve, but the main population occur in the bank of a stream bordering the reserve and is not protected.

Conservation actions are required for this species, and further research to confirm its distribution and population trend.
