On Corsica, c.20 subpopulations have been reported, some of them with large numbers of individuals. On Sardinia, 14 subpopulations are known and on the Balearic Islands, over 100 subpopulations have been reported and it is common.

Habitat destruction as a result of tourism activities is a potential local threat to this species. Also, harvesting of tubers in natural populations is likely to occur.
