Description complète des menacesTexte détaillé évaluation IUCNExpert
The habitat of this species is reportedly affected by clear cutting for urban development (Estrada-Castillón et al. 2012, 2015); however, this doesn't seem to directly affect the species' distribution area. The main threat to this species is illegal extraction with national and international ornamental purposes.

The species occurs in the Cumbres de Monterrey National Park. It would benefit from management and inclusion in Mexico's NOM-059-SEMARNAT 2010 legislation for the protection of the countries native and endemic species and in CITES.
