Description complète des menacesTexte détaillé évaluation IUCNExpert
About 76% or over 17 million ha of Cameroon's forests — totalling some 22.8 million ha — have either been logged or are allocated as logging concessions. Less than a fifth of the country's unprotected forests, mostly in central and eastern Cameroon, remains free from logging. Only about 6% or 1.4 million ha of Cameroon's forests are protected as national parks or reserves, however, agricultural encroachment, poaching and illegal logging threaten all these areas (Minnemeyer 2000).
All forest near Mount Cameroon below 600 m is degraded and around Yaounde only very small and fragmented patches remain. Considering these are the only two areas where this species is known from, its subpopulations are very likely to be threatened (S. Cable pers. comm. 2008). It is a vine which grows on the trunks of trees. The only specimen from near Mount Cameroon was collected from "disturbed" forest, so there is some indication that this species can survive if selective logging is occurring and as long as some trees remain standing.
