The most serious threat in this region is deforestation and fragmentation of habitat as a result of timber exploitation and slash and burn agriculture (Chatelain et al. 1996, Christie et al. 2007). An increase in the size of the human population and increased accessibility (i.e., new roads) in this region is putting additional strains on the forests.
