Most of the natural habitat in the area in which this species was found is privately owned by indigenous people and involves a combination of Shorea forest and small scale agriculture. Remaining patches of semi-natural habitat in the area are extremely vulnerable to damage and degradation, the secondary effects of forest clearance such as increased turbidity and pollution, as well as intensification of land-use. There is also a risk to this species from over-collection.
