Description complète des menacesExpert
The habitat in areas from which this species has been found has been converted to cultivation or plantations. Remaining potentially suitable habitat in the area has some degree of protection as a Forest Reserve but the springs are described as drying out, possibly due to over-exploitation or climate change. It is also threatened by collection from the wild for the plant trade.

This species is classed as Critically Endangered CR B1ab(i, ii, iii)+2ab(i, ii, iii) in the Red Data Book of Sri Lanka (Yakandawala 2012). There has never been a thorough survey of the area for this species and there is an urgent need for survey of potentially suitable habitat along the Kalu Ganga, particularly in remnant lowland forest areas such as the Bodhingala Forest Reserve.
