This species is found in or near Lugufu/Mkuti, Songa/Uvinza Forest Reserve, as well as in 'Uhehe country' from an old, further unlocalised area.

Uvinza Forest Reserve (FR) has reports of artisanal gold miners clearing natural forest in this area, and using logs for pit props . Also reports of illegal human settlements within the reserves, farming, livestock keeping as well as poaching rampant in Uvinza protected reserves (Xinhua news agency, July 2020).

“Whilst Lugufu is one of the furthest areas from human settlements, it is one of the most heavily used areas by nomadic cattle-herders, who report removing snares they find to protect their cattle from being victimized” (Piel et al. 2015).

This species is found in 'Lugufu' (Peter #36031), which might be either in or just outside Lugufu and Mkuti Forest Reserves; and in 'Uvinza' ( Peter #36684) and maps to the edge of Songa FR just NE of Uvinza FR. The label site data of the third collection, Goetze #526 is just “Uhehe”, so precise mapping is not possible. The species is not known from ex situ collections (BGCI 2018).
