État de la populationExpert
The large number of older and recent records in Peloponnisos suggests that the species is not rare in this area. Trigas (2003) characterised the species as rare in Evvoia. The foothills of Mt Ymittos and Lykavittos are today mostly urbanised or cultivated and there are no recent records of the species, although it has been searched for. There are no recent records of the subpopulation of Faliro either. Faliro area has been developed and changed completely since the species was last found, so it is likely that the subpopulation has gone extinct. Apart from these areas, the species seems to be abundant.

Description complète des menacesExpert
The localities of the species at Attiki are threatened by urbanisation and the species has apparently lost some of its AOO since the 19th century. On the other hand, there is no specific data regarding actual or possible threats for the species at the other parts of its distribution range in Peloponnisos and Sterea Ellada. Biarum species are favoured amongst garden enthusiasts and are gradually becoming more widely known for their medicinal properties. Tuber and seed collection for horticulture or medicine might present a threat of unknown impacts on the population of the species. However, for the time being, collection is apparently not a significant pressure.

Mesures de conservation recommandéesExpert

The species is protected by the Greek Law (Presedential Decree 67/81) but there are no conservation measures targeted to the species. Several of its localities lie within the NATURA 2000 sites GR2320008, GR2450005, GR2520001, GR2530003, GR2530004. Control of seed and tuber harvest and trade is a desirable measure. Origin certificates should be required for exporting and trading of plant material and garden enthusiasts as well as practitioners of herbalism should be informed about the impacts of overcollection.
