Information on the population size and trend is not available. Thirty-four known localities are distributed across approximately six subpopulations in southwestern Spain (provinces of Badajoz, Cadiz, Cordoba and Seville) and southeastern Portugal (Alto Alentejo). On the basis of current land cover maps, it is suspected that approximately 40-50 % of the known localities are currently under intensive agriculture or within urban areas, and thus the species could have disappeared or could be in very low numbers.

The information available on this species is very limited. According to threats to similar species from the southern Iberian Peninsula, agriculture and related activities, such as use of herbicides, the development of infrastructures, soil conditioning, fertilization and agricultural waste discharges could be the major threats to this species.
