État de la populationTexte officiel évaluation IUCNExpert
There are three known subpopulations for the species. At the type locality (at the lowlands of Thiva) this plant has not been found again for at least 150 years, so the subpopulation there may be locally extinct. At the other locality (Lake Kopais), the species had not been seen for 55 years, until it was rediscovered in the early 1990s by members of the Patras Botanical Institute. This subpopulation consisted of about 10 individuals. There is a probability to discover new sites because the plant is small and elusive (Lesouef and Buord 2003). There is no information regarding population size and trends at the third locality in Peloponnisos.

Description complète des menacesTexte détaillé évaluation IUCNExpert
According to Boyce (2006, 2008) extensive agricultural and urban development has almost certainly extinguished the subpopulation from the type locality (near Thiva). The plant was probably more frequent in Kopais before the drainage of the lake and the intensive cultivation which now prevails in the valley. The area is not overgrazed and is inhabited. There is no information regarding actual or possible threats for the subpopulation in Peloponnisos.

Mesures de conservation recommandéesStratégies de conservation IUCNExpert
The species is included in the national Red Data Book (Phitos et al. 1995) as Endangered. Lesouef and Buord (2003) suggest that the species should be classified as Critically Endangered (CR B1+2abcd,C2b, D1). The known localities are outside of protected areas. More research on population, distribution and threats is urgently needed for this species.
