État de la populationExpert
Combined distribution data from Athanasiou (in Phitos et al. 1995), Boyce (2008), MPCU-MAICH (2022) and Strid (2022) result in 20-25 mapped sites. In some known sites only a few dozen mature individuals (<250) have been counted. The number of mature individuals in each subpopulations is not expected to exceed 250 based on field observation. It can be concluded that its population may not exceed 9,000 mature individuals in total.

Description complète des menacesExpert
Collection of bulbs from the wild is a serious threat, although detailed data on the extent of collections are not known (Bazos and Delipetrou 2013). The opening of roads and residential expansion has been observed to be a cause of habitat reduction and fragmentation in SW Crete.
