État de la populationTexte officiel évaluation IUCNExpert
This species has not been recorded since 1911, but it may have been overlooked or misidentified as other taxa. Dedicated searches are needed to try and relocate surviving subpopulations, as very little intact habitat remains in the area where it was last recorded. A number of species previously thought extinct have been recently rediscovered around Port Elizabeth as a result of dedicated field surveys, and there remains a chance that this species may also still be found.
