Agave polianthiflora is listed as "Amenazada" (Threatemed) in Mexico{s list of threatened species SEMARNAT-NOM-059 (SEMATNAT 2010) and is found in protected areas in Chihuahua: Area Natural Protegida Totuaca and Parque Nacional Cumbres de Majalca. In Sonora is found within the Area Natural Protegida Sierra de Alamos (Seinet.org 2019). This species is conserved ex-situ in 33 botanical gardens worldwide (BGCI 2019).
