There is no information on the population of this species across its whole rage. In the state of Oaxaca, however, this species is considered to have a restricted distribution in comparison to other species of the genus Agave in this state (Martínez Antonio et al. 1995); in Jalisco the species is scarce (Vázquez-García et al. 2007) .
