The three known subpopulations of this species are subject to different threats: the one in Corregidora is suffering a fast habitat conversion due to urban development, that has lead to fragmentation and high reduction of the subpopulation; in Ezequiel Montes, the main threats are agriculture and intensive cattle ranching; the subpopulation in Peñamiller is threatened by goat grazing (Magallán Hernández et al. 2012).
