État de la populationExpert
Agave aktites is a clonal species and is found scattered along coastal environments. There are three known subpopulations along coastal areas and it is also found in at least three islands. The largest subpopulations are found in Isla Santa María, Isla La Lechuguilla and Isla Piedras. Plants along the coastal mainland are even more scattered and with smaller plants than in the sand dunes. This species is also cultivated around Huatabampo, Sonora which reflects its importance for the Mayo Indians (Gentry 1982, Seinet 2019).
