This species is only known from the type, suggesting that the population is small. The protection of Taman Negara Banjaran Crocker should, however, make it stable (Protected Planet 2019, ZRC 2019).

Forests of Borneo are under continuous threat (WWF 2019). The species should, however, be protected in Taman Negara Banjaran Crocker, and by growing at a higher altitude.
