Forests of Borneo are under continuous threat of being logged and the land converted to e.g. palm oil plantations (WWF 2019). Lowland forest are especially at risk and this species was found at 200-1,000 m asl 14 % of the tree cover was lost between 2000-2017 within the extent of occurrence (EOO) (GFW 2019).

Individuals of this species has been found in protected areas such as Hose Mountains National Park (Lamb et al. 2013, Poulsen 2006, Burtt and Smith 1969) and Lambir Hills National Park (ZRC 2019, Protected Planet 2019) in which they should be conserved. This species has not been recorded by BGCI (2019) to be grown ex situ.
