The species is known from several localitites suggesting that the population size is relatively large. Based on the declining habitat quality there may be a negative population trend.

Forests of Borneo are under contitnuous threat of being logged and the land converted to e.g. palm oil plantations (WWF 2019). Habitat at low altitudes are especially at risk and this species is known from 30-650 m asl. Almost 16% of the tree cover within the extent of occurrence was lost between 2000 and 2017 (GFW 2019).
