Around 27% of the tree cover within the extent of occurrence (EOO) was lost 2000-2018 (GFW 2019). Satellite imagery show habitat degradation in some of the locations.

This species has been recorded by BGCI (2019) to be grown in three ex situ sites. Some of the subpopulations were recorded in protected areas such as Khao Phanom Bencha National Park, Khao Phra Thaeo National Park and Khao Bantad Wildlife Sanctuary in which individuals should be under a level of protection (Protected Planet 2019, ZRC 2019).
