There is continuous habitat degradation in this area (J. Mood pers. comm. 2019) and Gunung Rara in Danum Valley has experienced unsustainable logging.

This species has not been recorded by BGCI (2019) to be grown ex situ. It is only known from Gunung Rara in Danum Valley Protection Forest Reserve (Protected Planet 2019, Theilade and Mood 1997, ZRC 2019). This area has, however, experienced habitat degradation e.g. due to overharvesting (unsustainable logging). Protection of the habitat and ex situ conservation are recommended conservation actions.
