Although the waterfall is a popular tourist spot, tourist activity is restricted to a small part of the area so the species does not appear to be affected at present but, if there is any increase in human activity, the species and its habitat could well be impacted in the future.

The whole population is endemic to Kang Ngui waterfall which is not a formal protected area. Plants are grown in ex situ conservation in Pha Tad Ke Botanical Garden (BGCI 2018) and Singapore Botanical Gardens.
