Forests of Borneo are under continuous threat of being logged and the land converted to e.g. palm oil plantations (WWF 2019). Around 21% of the tree cover was lost within the extent of occurrence (EOO) in 2000-2017 (GFW 2019).

This species has not been recorded by BGCI (2019) to be grown ex situ. It was recorded by Burtt and Smith in 1969 to be cultivated at the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh, but can no longer be found in the collection catalogue. It is possible that the species is present in Batang Ai National Park (ZRC 2019, Protected Planet 2019).
