One or two of the known locations are protected while habitat degradation can be seen in at least one. Peninsular Malaysia is one of the largest producers of palm oil (Theo 2002), being one of the reasons why natural habitat is converted.

This species is in cultivation in Waimea Botanical Gardens, Hawaii (Theilade 1998). One collection (Larsen et al. #45748) was made in Ton Nga Chang Wildlife Sanctuary (ZRC 2019, Protected Planet 2019) which could provide a level of protection to parts of the population.
