État de la populationExpert
Sandoval (2006) found 2,299 individuals in eight subpopulations. Sandoval, however, contradicts himself by stating that 77,000 individuals were discovered in this same watershed. The issue has not been clarified (Sandoval was contacted but did not clarify), but other experts (Onan Reyes and Mark Bonta) agree that the lower figure is more realistic and should be used.

Description complète des menacesExpert
The threats to this species are numerous, as it has been best documented in an active colonization corridor bordering a national park. Some subpopulations are safe (on high and relatively inaccessible cliffs), while others are adjacent to roads. The best hope for this species is documentation at additional locations in completely inaccessible parts of the protected area Pico Bonito National Park, where it is presumed to occur.

Mesures de conservation recommandéesExpert
It is listed in Appendix II of the CITES Appendices. Plants are found in the Parque Nacional Nombre de Dios and the Parque Nacional Pico Bonito. An education and awareness programme as well as the long-term monitoring of subpopulations will support the conservation of this species.
