Introduced invasive grass species have been observed at Los Fierros site inside the lowland areas of the Noel Kempff Mercado National Park, however, their spread may be limited by habitat type (J.R.I. Wood pers. comm. 2018). Invasive grasses can easily spread from planted cattle pasture. There is potential from the surrounding land use of the Noel Kempff Park that invasive grasses can spread to cause habitat degradation into grasslands and forests, particularly in the periphery. However, the overall situation in the Noel Kempff Mercado National Park is that it is becoming steadily more inaccessible but there has been a number of recent new settlements in the peripheral areas of the park, leading to an increased rate of deforestation.

This species is only recorded from within Noel Kempff Mercado National Park. Further research is needed into the distribution, population sizes, habitats, life history and ecology of this taxa. Depending on the outcome of this research, monitoring may be required. Ex situ conservation is recommended to mitigate against the possible future threat of mining in this region. For the national park's longevity it is important to provide sufficient resources for its protection and formal education to local communities and stakeholders about the ecological value of the unique plants that occur there.
