Xyris bracteata

The distribution of this species is between the major urban centres of Sydney and Brisbane, although most collections are clustered around Sydney. General threats associated with human activity apply e.g., expansion of urban areas, conversion of land for agriculture and impact of invasive species. However, this species has been widely found in this area, including some recent collections, and has been reported to be frequent and abundant. Sometimes reported by roadsides and in semi-disturbed areas it seems this species may be robust or tolerant to some of these threats and hence are not considered major threats.

Previously assessed by Conn and Doust (1997) as not endangered or vulnerable due to its frequency. No form of ex situ conservation is known to be in place, but has been found in some protected areas around Sydney e.g. the Greater Blue Mountains Area reserve.
