This species was described in 2017 (De Groot and Tojibaev 2017) and currently is not recognised on the national red list of Kyrgyzstan as no update of this list has been undertaken since the description of this species. This species occurs in the Sary-Chelek Biosphere reserve so some subpopulations are protected. However, in the buffer zone of this park livestock grazing is still allowed and is damaging habitat quality (Wilson et al. 2019). This species is known from one ex situ collection on the BGCI PlantSearch database (BGCI 2022) as well as being recorded in the tulip collection of the Gareev Botanic Garden in Bishkek.
