État de la populationExpert

Data are lacking on the overall size of the population as well as of individual subpopulations. However, based on field observations (Wilson et al. 2022) each subpopulation is likely less than 1,000 individuals. The population trend remains unknown.

Description complète des menacesExpert
The main threat to this species is livestock overgrazing which is causing habitat degradation across all recorded subpopulations (Wilson et al. 2022). This may also be leading to declines in mature individual numbers as well, but this has not been recorded yet. Climate change may also pose a threat to this species with modelling suggesting that large areas of suitable tulip habitat will be lost before 2050 (Wilson et al. 2021), however the direct impact on this species is unknown. Finally, opportunistic collection of flowering specimens from near settlements or roads may be occurring, however this species is not often directly targeted and the threat from this is only small.

Mesures de conservation recommandéesExpert
This species has only recently been described and so has not been assessed in the Kyrgyz Red Book (Wilson et al. 2022). Seeds of this species have been collected from the wild and will be grown in the ex situ collections at Gareev Botanical Garden in Bishkek, and Cambridge University Botanic Garden in the U.K.. This species is not recorded from any protected areas.
