État de la populationExpert
There are estimated to be only 2,000 mature individuals in Uzbekistan whilst the size of the Tajik population cannot be estimated with current data. In Uzbekistan there are five subpopulations with a low density of flowering individuals in each. Overall there is believed to be a decline in mature individuals due to damage from livestock (Tojibaev and Beshko 2015).

Description complète des menacesExpert
This species is primarily threatened by livestock overgrazing, which is reported to be causing habitat degradation across large parts of Uzbekistan where this species occurs (Tojibaev and Beshko 2015). This threat is affecting just over 50% of all known subpopulations. At the moment there are no specific threats recorded in Tajikistan for this species. Climate change is also projected to cause declines in suitable tulip habitat in the region (Wilson et al. 2021), however the direct impacts on this species are unknown.

Mesures de conservation recommandéesExpert
This species is reported as Endangered in the Uzbekistan (Tojibaev and Beshko 2015), but has not been assessed across its range in Tajikistan. The species is recorded to occur in the Tupalang protected area in the Hissar mountains of Uzbekistan and it is may also occur in one or several Tajik protected areas as well which fall within its extent of occurrence, although there are no location records to support this. This species is only known from a single ex situ collection (BGCI 2022).
