État de la populationTexte officiel évaluation IUCNExpert
There is no estimation regarding the population size and trend. Based on field observations the species is estimated to have at least more than 10,000 individuals. For one of the species largest subpopulations, in Akrotiri peninsula in western Crete, the number of mature individuals has declined dramatically within the past years due to rural and agricultural development. In particular, in Akrotiri peninsula, phryganic communities which constitute the habitat for the species are converted to agricultural lands, resulting in the loss of mature individuals of this tulip. In addition, the number of mature individuals has declined due to tourism development in several coastal sites where the species occurs.

Description complète des menacesTexte détaillé évaluation IUCNExpert
The species is threatened at the lower altitudes by rural, agricultural and tourism development as well as road construction. In particular, in Akrotiri peninsula in western Crete a large part of the species population has been destroyed as a result of phrygana clearance for agriculture as well as residential development. In addition, in several coastal sites the species is threatened by the construction of tourism infrastructure (lodgement, parking) in particular in western and eastern Crete. At the higher altitudes the species is threatened by grazing, and many flowering stems are observed to be grazed.
