État de la populationExpert
During an observation in May 2008, when the species was not yet described, c.280 mature individuals were observed and most of them were found in an area of 4 km², whereas in the other half of the area of occupancy, which is separated from the first one by the Black Drin River, less than one fourth of the individuals were found. The monitoring of mature individuals in May 2010 showed a decline of the population with 200 mature individuals, but the observation in May 2013, shows an increase with 260 mature individuals in total. The generation length for the species is three years.

It is likely that the population declined after construction of a dam downstream, but there is no information on this. However a decline in population on the serpentine is suspected to have occurred since mining was observed in 2013.

Description complète des menacesExpert
The major threat to the species is the natural succession of vegetation, covering the clearings among the woody scrub. We suspect that the species is very adaptable to shady conditions. Excessive grazing by sheep and cattle, which was observed during the spring and summer. In 2013, mining for chromium on the serpentine rocks was observed which impacts the habitat of the subpopulation on the serpentine substrate.

Mesures de conservation recommandéesExpert
The area where the species occurs and the species itself are not protected by the Albanian law. There is a clear need for monitoring and protecting the species. Protection of the site where the species occurs is needed also because the locality is an important areas for several Albanian endemics, relict species and species endemic to the Balkans. The creation of small clearings between the scrubs can help increase the population size. The species was assessed as Critically Endangered for Albania (MEA 2013).
