No numerical population information is available, and the current trend is unknown. However, the species is known only from its type specimen collected in 2001, and is therefore suspected to be rare.

This species is endemic to Bolivia, where it is known only from the type specimen collected in the Ayopaya Province of Cochabamba. Although the Bolivian Yungas ecoregion has a good coverage of national parks, habitat loss and general degradation due to human activities persist outside protected areas (Mee 1998). Habitat is burned for growing cash crops, and this has increased, along with logging, due to intensified road-building (Collar et al. 1992). However, the collection site does not seem to be experiencing any obvious threats, with no human activity visible through satellite imagery, and seems to be relatively remote (Google Earth 2023).
