It is considered widespread when found in Sarawak (Lamb et al. 2013). The declining quality of habitat suggests that the population may be declining.

Forests of Borneo are under continuous threat of being logged and the land converted to e.g. palm oil plantations (WWF 2019). Almost 15% of the tree cover within the extent of occurrence (EOO) was lost between 2000 and 2017 (GFW 2019).

This species has not been recorded by BGCI (2018) to be grown ex situ. One collection was made in Semengoh Forest Reserve in which individuals may be under a level of protection (ZRC 2019, Protected Planet 2019).
