The species is only known from two collection sites, 100 km apart. The type locality, at Siak Sungai Kelantan, Riau Province, has been completely converted to another land use. Based on field observation of the habitat decline, the population size is also inferred to be rapidly decreasing. Very few individuals have been sighted, and it is not probable that they occur somewhere else.

Lowland forest of Sumatera is undergoing extreme deforestation rates, especially in the southern provinces for several purposes: plantations of palm oil (Elaeis guineensis), rubber (Hevea brasiliensis) and paper (Acacia mangium). According to WWF (2018), Sumatera has lost around 50% of its forests in a 22 year period.
