There is decline in area, extent and/or quality of habitat at the location between Batouala and Matote where some evidence of deforestation and increased infrastructure can be observed on satellite imagery (Google Earth 2020). Its inselberg habitat is sometimes used for mining/quarrying. There are more inselbergs are in Gabon, and this species probably occurs scattered throughout (Mesterházy pers. comm. 2020).
