État de la populationTexte officiel évaluation IUCNExpert
There is no detailed population level information available for recently described species (Bauters et al. 2018). However, it is likely to be rare as in its distribution range, open sites on inselbergs are few and most unforested places are covered by grass or Afrotrilepis pilosa mats (Mesterházy, pers. obs.). Therefore, suitable habitats for small sedge species are few. It seems to be restricted to a small distribution area as it was not found on inselbergs in Eastern Gabon (Mesterházy pers. obs.). However, there are more inselbergs in Equatorial Guinea near western Gabon that are not well studied (Mesterházy pers. comm. 2020).
