Description complète des menacesExpert
This species is found in areas of very low human footprint. However, the region is under increasing human impact. Deforestation rates have increased recently due to displacement of indigenous people and colonization of the forest by peasant farmers, cattle ranching, coca and coffee production, mining, oil prospecting and exploitation, road building and industrial development. This species does not appear to be available for sale as an ornamental, however the taxon may be collected by locals. The impact of potential extraction on the population are unknown.

Mesures de conservation recommandéesExpert
This species was not collected within any protected areas. It has been listed as Near threatened on the Libro rojo de plantas de Colombia (Nestor Garcia and Galeano 2003). The taxon is cultivated ex situ. The botanical composition of rainforests in the region is very poorly known and the vegetation largely undescribed (Faber-Langendoen and Gentry 1991). Surveys should be conducted in historical sites of collection and potentially suitable areas to determine the current range and population size. The biology and ecology of the taxon should be studied. Its resilience to anthropogenic disturbance and the impact of potential of collections on the population should be investigated. Seeds should be collected for germplasm conservation.
