État de la populationTexte officiel évaluation IUCNExpert
The plant is localised and fairly uncommon. It has only been found in three locations. The population size has been estimated in fewer than 250 mature individuals, most of them recorded as part of the Tissouka Mountain subpopulation, in small groups of 10 to 15 individuals dispersed over 2 to 3 hectares; 70% of this subpopulation are female and 30% hermaphrodites (Moret et al. 1993). The population trend is inferred to be decreasing, and the population size and density have been significantly reduced during recent years (H. Rankou pers. comm. 2014, Rankou et al. 2015) due to several threats including overgrazing, agricultural intensification and urban development, among others.

Description complète des menacesTexte détaillé évaluation IUCNExpert
Population and habitats are locally declining because of numerous anthropogenic threats such as habitat fragmentation and deterioration of the surrounding environments due to overgrazing, agricultural intensification, urban, touristic and infrastructure development, climate change, drought, random harvesting, irregular fires and deforestation of the neighbouring mountains which increases the soil erosion and the disappearance of the species, as the disturbances are highly frequent and strong (Rankou et al. 2015).
