The only threat to this species that has been identified is climate change (Cuena et al. 2013), but there is no evidence that this will cause a significant decline in the population. Actions such as drainage or changes to the management of the known locality could have severe impacts, however these actions are considered highly unlikely at this site (G. Fenu pers. comm. 2015).

There are moves to provide legal protection for this species, but no active conservation measures are needed. The known locality of this species is within the Site of Community Importance (SCI) of Monte dei Sette Fratelli e Sarrabus (ITB041106). Cuena et al. (2013) proposed that the species should be assessed as Near Threatened on the basis of its restricted EOO and AOO, and projected decline in the quality of habitat as a result of climate change. Further research is needed on population distribution, size and trends, and on threats and habitat trends.
