État de la populationExpert
This species is known from nine specimens collected between 1899 and 1996. It was described as "frequent" by Callejas when collecting in San Luis, Antioquia, Colombia in 1995.
Description complète des menacesExpert
Lower elevations in the region have suffered major habitat loss due to logging, human settlement, agriculture, and grazing. Threats are reduced at higher elevations, which are less accessible. However, these areas are also under pressure as human settlements move closer (WWF 2001). Found across a number of ecoregions, T. michelii is unlikely to be severely threatened by habitat loss, however. Several Tillandsia species are harvested due to their high ornamental value, however it is unknown if this species is collected for this purpose.
