Quercus ramsbottomii is known from four widely fragmented populations in Myanmar and Thailand. There is not much information available regarding the population size or trends of Q. ramsbottomii, but it is suspected to be decreasing. The population is considered to be severely fragmented.

Quercus ramsbottomii is very rare and only known from 4 sites. It is threatened by forest disturbance primarily due to logging for wood plantations and agriculture.
